Lucerne Festival

A train journey is always conducive to meditation, and introspection. Today, as I am chasing the last days of summer on my way south to Napoli, I revisit our days in Lucerne. Some impressions of the quiet moments in the midst of the intense rehearsal and performing days we spend each summer with the Lucerne Festival Orchestra and Mahler Chamber Orchestra. As I see these images, music of Mahler, Bruckner, Berg, Gershwin, Debussy and Sibelius rushes in my ears, and brings up a smile…

I am a Munich based photographer, specializing in music and portrait photography. Since the mid 90’s I spend a big part of my life on tour, with orchestras performing all over the world. As a founding member of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, sharing the stage with others allows me to get close, and my images offer unusual perspectives, in performance or backstage. I aspire to share intimate moments and bring you closer to artists as they journey towards their performances.
